The Power of Rest & Recharge
Dec 20, 2023
I often think about how stressful this time of year can be for many, and when the world is on fire at the same time… the constant guilt and the enormous exhaustion is throwing us into all sorts of spirals.
Do you allow yourself to rest these days? And what does this look like for you?
I'm feeling extremely fortunate that I am able when so many people are not, and I am trusting that despite everything, it's what's needed for me to keep my strength. This doesn't not mean it's easy though, quite the opposite.
Some things that helps for me at the moment:
𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: Step outside and let the soothing embrace of nature rejuvenate your soul. Whether it’s a hike in the mountains, a stroll in the park, or simply basking in the semi-warmth of the sun, nature has a magical way of restoring our energy.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞:There’s nothing quite like the healing power of human connection. Whether it’s a heart-to-heart with a friend, a family game night, or a cozy dinner date, surround yourself with the warmth of your bestest. Relationships, in any shape or form, are the heart’s best medicine!
𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤: You know how I love a good book! And I love the mediocre ones too btw. Bring coffee to bed on a Sunday morning and lose yourself in the pages. Fiction, non-fiction, it doesn’t really matter! Reading can offer a beautiful sanctuary for the mind.
𝐓𝐕 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲: Confession! (Please do forgive!) But sometimes, all you need is a cozy blanket and a binge-worthy series (read reality-tv) or that family movie where the brain doesn’t need to think. Often I don’t even know what I’ve watched! Frustrated to some I’m sure but I do think tv at times can serve the purpose you need to escape real life for a bit.
Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to recharge – it’s about what speaks to YOUR soul. Share your favourite ways to unwind below and let’s inspire each other to prioritise self-care. Especially when we feel like we don’t deserve it!
Sending all my love and some extra hugs to you that may need it this week xx
